How many days do you need in Istanbul for a first trip?

Around four to five full days allows time for Istanbul’s main sights and some neighborhood exploring. Group stops by area: crossing between Sultanahmet, Galata and the Asian side can take more time than expected. How many days would you recommend for a first visit?
